Why we built FranchiseOS

Franchise operators are running multi-crore businesses on a billing POS and a stack of spreadsheets. Here is what we built instead, and why.

Most franchise operators we talk to run on the same setup: a billing POS at each counter, and spreadsheets for everything the POS does not do.

The POS handles one branch’s bills. The spreadsheets handle stock, royalty, staff, purchasing — and, critically, the job of adding four branches together into one number the owner can trust.

It works. Until roughly the third or fourth branch, when month-end becomes a two-day job somebody dreads, and the numbers stop being trusted enough to make decisions with.

What a franchise needs that a POS does not have

Single-outlet software, stretched across a group, is missing a specific set of things:

Royalty. Calculated per branch, from actual sales, on that branch’s terms. Not rebuilt monthly in a spreadsheet and then argued about.

Stock that moves between branches. One outlet runs out, another has surplus. That should be a transfer that adjusts both sides, not a phone call and a manual adjustment at each end.

One view of everything. Sales, cost and staff across all branches, without exporting anything.

A central kitchen. Once one branch cooks for the others, you need aggregated demand and a production plan — not a WhatsApp group.

The thing we would not compromise on

An outlet that cannot bill is not degraded — it is shut. The queue does not wait for your internet.

So FranchiseOS runs a desktop till and a Local Hub on the branch’s own network. When the connection drops, billing and printing carry on, and everything syncs when it comes back. That is architecture, not a feature we bolted on afterwards.

Everything included

The other thing we decided early: no add-on modules.

The Indian market convention is a low headline price with the useful parts — loyalty, online ordering, analytics, QR ordering — charged separately. The advertised number and the actual bill are rarely the same.

We would rather quote one price by branch count, and have everything in it.

What is next

FranchiseOS is live and running real outlets. It is the first product from AesoniONE, Aesoni’s business-software division, and others are in development for businesses that are not restaurants.

If you run several branches and recognise the spreadsheet problem, book a demo. We will show you the parts that matter to your operation rather than a generic tour.
